The making of special effects and animated films requires talent and the collaboration of hundreds of artists and technicians. The creative process is organised in several working departments to be as flexible as possible. Each department works in parallel and consistently delivers new versions of assets to other departments. Each task is iterative: the first assets are simplified at the start and are continuously reconstructed and improved upon as production goes on.
 
The pipeline defines work organisation between your departments (workflow), and how data flows (dataflow).
The construction of a pipeline is complex because it depends on several factors: the internal organisation of the studio, naming conventions, rules, software used, type of project, means available, etc.
 
Kurtis is an automation software for use in the Animation and VFX industry.
It is designed as a visual programming nodal system to design, automate, and execute manufacturing processes.
